Enjoyed reading your review. I was there and thought it was a great show. Your review of the gig at Dolan's was really interesting too.

Saw very much the same show in Princeton NJ. Loved it all. Mary seemed to have had a jar or two before the show and her unexpected breezy manner was quite charming. Having seen her in concert many times I noticed her lack of reserve. Mary spoke movingly about her Mother's passing and seemed very effected by it. Mary said of course every mum is important but hers was really special. Well just look at her Mother's children!
As for Raisian, she was so much better with traditional songs than anything else. When she sang with Mary Raisian was even better. I hope she realisies where her strengths are and doesn't catch on too late and ends up singing duets with her mother's recordings after Mary has passed like Natilie Cole.
It is clear where Raisian gets her dancing chops, Her Mum!

I'm wondering if the song you mention (funeral ballad) was the new song Mary wrote in honor of her mother who had recently departed. I was at her concert in Boston in November, and it sounds like the same renditions as Bimbo's. Nice piece!
