When you travel to Iceland or Scotland, rain is a given. Living in a part of the world where you may go for 6+ months without a drop, our gear was not fresh. Make that 28 years not fresh. A trip to REI fixed that and we were not dissapointed, either with our equipment or a lack of rain.
We heard the adjective "dreich" used more than once to describe the weather we at times encountered. Here is the dictionary definition of "dreich." A combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least 4 of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is truly dreich
It may be an old joke in the UK, but was new to us.. "It only rained twice last week! The first time for three days, the second for four."
